On May 19, the Black Student Union hosted a Sip & Paint session facilitated by school counselor Savanna Enails and led by Happiness Akaniro, an educator and recognized New Jersey artist.
Akaniro donated art materials from her BubaLapa canvas collection and guided students through a creative painting experience focused on self-expression, culture, confidence, and community. The selected paintings for the event came from her recently published book, Sip and Paint with Happiness Vol. 3: A Guided Acrylic Painting Experience for Calm and Creative Confidence.
Students had the opportunity to relax, create, and connect through art in a supportive environment. Akaniro was also recently selected for an airport art exhibit, highlighting her ongoing commitment to making art accessible and meaningful across communities.
The session reflected the power of creativity, mentorship, and representation, giving students a meaningful opportunity to experience art as both personal and empowering.
