Solar Ovens

Our fourth-grade students recently put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test by building their very own solar ovens! Working in teams, they used pizza boxes generously donated by one of our student's parents to design and construct their ovens.

Over the course of three days, students brainstormed and built their solar ovens using chocolate and graham crackers. On the final day, they placed their ovens outside in the morning to capture the sun’s energy and picked them up in the early afternoon during recess to observe the results. They carefully recorded their observations and tested how well their ovens worked.

This exciting project was part of our lesson on renewable energy. Students learned how the sun can be harnessed to provide heat and power, exploring real-world applications of solar energy. By using simple materials and teamwork, they gained hands-on experience with science and engineering concepts.

It was incredible to see their scientific thinking, creativity, and collaboration in action. Every student did an amazing job, and we are so proud of their efforts!
